Now accepting new clients, both individuals and couples!
Hello, my name is Abby, and I’m glad you’re here. I truly believe that there is no greater investment than the one you make in yourself. I know starting therapy with someone new can feel intimidating, but I am here to support you on your journey toward change, healing, and growth. I admire your courage in taking this first step.
My goal as a counselor is to provide you with a safe and trusting environment where meaningful change can occur. Our time together is about what’s best for you, and I truly believe you are the expert in your own life. I look forward to getting to know your unique story, and what brought you here. I take a collaborative and holistic approach to counseling, which means I will work alongside you, and will consider your physical, psychological, environmental, social, and spiritual needs. My theoretical orientation is humanistic in nature, and I value a Rogerian approach of unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and honesty. I will also utilize a strengths-based approach to uncover and utilize the resources and resiliency already present within you. I will use both motivational interviewing and emotion-focused techniques and take interest in attachment styles and experiences in your family of origin. Ultimately, my goal is to walk alongside you as you work toward the fullest expression of yourself.
My training in the Counselor Education program at USM has focused on providing individual and group mental health counseling for adults of all ages. I have also taken classes pertaining to work with children as well as family systems. My undergraduate degree is in psychology from the University of Maine at Orono. While I work with clients presenting a variety of concerns, my areas of interest include couples and individual work focused on common stress and anxiety that manifest in everyday life, especially during times of transition. I am also interested in women’s issues, self-esteem, and the incorporation of mindfulness.
In my free time I enjoy going for walks in nature and surrounding myself with the peace and wonder it provides. I love to travel and explore new places, meet new people, and immerse in new cultures. I adore plants and animals of all varieties and am continuously working on my green thumb. I also enjoy yoga, puzzles, reading/audiobooks, and listening to true crime podcasts.
I am currently accepting clients ranging from the teenage years through older adulthood, including couples. I am available via telehealth, and in-office sessions in both Portland and Yarmouth. I look forward to hearing from you.

Jackie Golojuch, LCPC-C
I'm Jackie, clinical therapist with A Simple Therapy, and I’m right there with you. I understand the unique challenges (and advantages!) that come with a high-achieving personality. While others perceive you effortlessly juggling numerous responsibilities, you’re feeling like an imposter- overwhelmed, burned out, empty, and in dire need of establishing boundaries. Perhaps you’ve experienced a major transition and your old ways of succeeding just aren’t working anymore.
I see all clients via telehealth. For a free consultation,
email Jackie.

You want to live with more ease, confidence and vitality despite the circumstances of your life. You may be facing a major change such as divorce or another relational challenge. Or perhaps you feel stuck and like you're just going through the motions, doing what’s expected of you by the people in your life. Your own wants and needs have been shoved down so deep you’re not even sure what they are anymore. Times of transition can feel scary, but they are also invitations for transformation. Living from an inner reservoir of spaciousness and assuredness is possible.
I believe we all have an inherent capacity for healing. However, sometimes we need help uncovering our inner wholeness. This is where therapy comes in. With warmth and genuineness, I guide clients to live from their inner knowing by peeling away the protective layers no longer serving them. Together we will compassionately and courageously look deeply into your experiences, emotions and relational patterns to uncover stuck points, process them, and ultimately, transmute suffering into healing.
I work with adults 18+ and families. Common concerns I see include self-worth, codependency, divorce recovery, relationship challenges, family of origin issues, parenting challenges, anxiety and depression.
I also hold a Master's degree in International Relations and have worked in both international development and college admissions. In my free time, I try to spend as much time outdoors as possible, hiking and snowshoeing. I also enjoy cooking, reading and chasing after my two young kids.
For a free consultation, email Shannon.

As the founder of A Simple Therapy, LLC, I am excited to expand my passion for therapy and accessible mental health treatment to more people throughout the state of Maine.
I obtained my master’s degree in counseling from the University of Southern Maine in 2006, with concentrations in rehabilitation counseling and clinical mental health counseling. My undergraduate degree is from Johns Hopkins University, where I studied humanities, anthropology and education.
I began my private psychotherapy practice in 2007, while continuing to work in community mental health crisis services, an employee assistance program, and disability services. I’ve also been an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern Maine.
My professional work is informed by Gestalt Therapy, as I attended a two-year post graduate training program at the Gestalt Institute of New England in Somerville, MA. I also practice from an Emotionally Focused Therapy lens, having completed the externship and numerous trainings in Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples.
I believe that psychotherapy, spirituality and real life collide in session, and it’s in that place where we do our deepest work and experience the most profound change.
Currently I am seeing clients, training interns and managing this group practice, all labors of love. I also host a Facebook group for therapists, as well as an online boutique selling merchandise to support therapist identity and mental health awareness.
When I’m not working, I love to run, swim, spend time in the sun and travel.
