Lisa Murray

Lisa is a Graduate Student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of Southern Maine.

People seek counseling when they need help overcoming life’s challenges.   If you have arrived at this page, you probably understand this feeling well.  Whether you are depressed, anxious, facing a crisis or looking for a sense of meaning and fulfillment that has eluded you, positive change is possible.  Within each of us is the power and wisdom to heal.  But, sometimes we need help to achieve this.

Whether your challenges are rooted in past trauma, major life changes or environmental hurdles, I work with you to identify the source of your issues and explore strategies and tools to help.  As a counselor, I connect deeply with clients and work alongside them to explore and understand their own struggles, values and priorities.  Our work often involves:

  • Telling your story
  • Identifying obstacles and stressors
  • Enhancing self-awareness
  • Managing change and transformation
  • Building courage and resilience

Unlocking your own power and inner wisdom is entirely within your grasp.  By establishing an empathic and honest relationship built on trust and mutual respect, we work together to help you access your inner strength and create positive change in your life.

Andrea Harkins

Andrea is a Graduate Student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Southern Maine.

For much of the past twenty years, I have worked with children and families in education using a collaborative and holistic approach, which I now bring into my counseling practice.

I believe that many aspects of our lives are interconnected and, therefore, we may need to look holistically at ourselves to understand and resolve concerns.  As a counselor, my goal is to help you identify the factors that are challenging you, to find the tools that work for you to overcome them, and to do so at a pace that is comfortable to you – together we will individualize treatment to fit your needs and style and build upon your strengths.

I believe strongly in the power within each of us to live fully by uncovering and honoring our “true selves” – that counseling, and change, is essentially about an uncovering of what’s already there inside of each of us. While this sounds simple in theory it certainly isn’t always an easy task, as it often involves an unlearning of sometimes long-held beliefs and perceptions, as well as a vulnerability to expose our inner selves. I also believe that people have the inherent ability for self-understanding and positive change when genuinely supported through the counseling process.  I strive to provide a safe and supportive environment for all of my clients and to foster feelings of hope and acceptance as a foundation for the work to follow.

By working together, my hope is that we can restore a sense of balance and empowerment that will allow you to take the actions needed to meet your goals and create the life you desire. I want you to feel empowered to move forward in your life, to take healthy risks, and to ultimately find balance and happiness!
